Our Story
With a Master of Public Policy from George Mason University and a Master of Social Work from Indiana University, Beth brings a unique blend of policy acumen and social work perspective to her roles. Her passion for public service, advocacy and equity stems from personal experience, having witnessed the challenges and inequities faced by those in her childhood community. She has worked to craft alternatives to prison for female offenders, expand funding for substance use disorder treatment in Indiana, and provided technical assistance to a statewide collaborative in California. Beth has held senior leadership roles in the past 20 years at OPEN MINDS; Arlington County, VA; The National Council for Behavioral Health (now The National Council for Well Being); and Principal at Charis Analytics.
Beth's personal drive has led her to serve on boards such as NAMI Northern Virginia and the Angel Fund, where she has contributed to legislative action and strategic planning. She has also been member of the Muslim Liaison Group at UUCF. For the past 20 years, her work has resulted in tangible improvements, including the implementation of anti-bullying measures in Virginia schools and the advancement of graduation rates for first-generation and underrepresented minority students. In all of her roles, Beth has consistently demonstrated her ability to drive change, improve efficiencies, and secure significant funding for various initiatives.

Outside of her professional life, Beth is an avid river runner and kayaker. She takes pride in having raised a skilled political operative who now gets paid to "make good trouble." A true bibliophile, Beth's home is filled with hundreds of books and she makes it a point to visit local bookstores in whatever city or country she travels. Her books compete for space with her beloved dog – Huckleberry, a 130-pound Great Dane mix; one of many "unadoptable" dogs she's brought home . This blend of adventure, intellectual curiosity, and compassion for both humans and animals alike informs Beth's approach to her work, bringing a unique perspective to her role as a change-maker in the human services field.
